The most memorable year for mixed doubles was 1982 when they started the final day with a 2nd round match to play (in a 64 draw) and finished the event.

Was that when Martina played three times in one day , full matches if I recall as well!?

No, not that year. Curren and Smith defeated Lloyd and Turnbull in the final on Court 3 no less. Can't find an article with further details, but I think one team would have had to win 5 matches in one day to win the title. They didn't!

Its mentioned at the end of this article - 4 times they played on finals day!

Thank you. Found the programme. On the final day the following mixed doubles matches were played: one second round, two third round, one quarterfinal, two semifinals and the final.

Well done, and all credit to Marcus for getting Lissey playing after she was poor in the first set. A very enjoyable match.

Really hopeful this will both advertise Marcus' skills to potential partners and give Lissey some much-needed confidence :) Well done both!

Well done to Marcus and Lissey! I didn't get a chance to watch, but that's a lovely result. Let's hope it's a good foundation for more in this tournament and, as jb288 suggests, for both of them going forwards in the rest of the year.

They are this year's Nicholls and O'Mara. In fact our Wimbledon mixed doubles record in recent years has been incredible: Dart and Clarke, Hoyt and Silva. Not including the ones that have actually won.

L16:  (7) Hsieh Su-Wei & Jan Zielinski (TPE/POL) CR 29 (2+27) defeated Heather Watson & Joe Salisbury CR 55 (50+5) by 7-6(4) 6-4  cry

Another entertaining, indeed thrilling, match.  Pity it went the wrong way.

Draw is opening up for Marcus and Lissey - no seeds left in the top half of the draw after various matches/walkovers.
All 4 seeds left in the bottom half though - including Neal and Desirae
