Weeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - Doubles

This is one of the very few times of year that I watch doubles - thoroughly enjoyed that second set - well done, ladies

Demolished them. Schuurs in particular was terrible.

I thought Tereza was absolutely superb today. Well deserved win, fantastic.

Yes I agree. A good start to their campaign

Amazing! Emily and Lily win the match tiebreak 11-9.

They were 8-9* down and Wang ballooned a forehand long then double faulted. Emily plucked the floaty ball out the air and slammed it away for victory.

Fantastic, and a nice way for Lily end her day.

What a thriller from Emily App & Lily

MTB

Saved a MP

the other pair hit a horrible DF at 9-9

And then Lily served a nice doddy in the box serve - the returner hit it up a bit too much - and Emily smashed the winner

As Emily said, 'never in doubt'

Good win for Emily and Lily via a final set tie-break. They probably had the easiest draw, but a win is a win !

Lissey and Freya's match against the top seeds has been moved to court 2 and is about to start

No great surprise, I'm afraid first set 0-6

It says a lot about the 12 months Maia has had that when she loses in round 1 here (which she and Harriet look like doing despite a pretty strong fight in that first set) and all those quarter final points fall off, she'll only drop 15-20 spots in the rankings.

Still has a very strong base go build a climb into the top 50.

Feel for Heather, I thought her and Greet could win a couple of rounds here but that was a difficult draw even if Mattek-Sands is not exactly playing a full-time schedule. Hopefully she can find some happiness in the mixed.

Lissey and Freya need to part ways I think. I know their draws on the grass have been absolutely brutal but you can see it just doesn't compliment each others game even if they do have fun playing together.
