Just spotted Fritz beat Zverev in 5!

Sometimes little things are very pleasing smile

If we could just get rid of Djokovic too ...

Well, Rune couldn't do it in the last 16, more's the pity:  dumped out in straight sets.  Next chance is AdM in the quarters - if he's fit...

And Djoko's not a happy bunny.  I must admit that, much as I dislike the man, I wouldn't stoop so low as actually to boo him if I were at the match.

I read they were chanting "Rune" as in Roooonnne" which is a bit like the football supporters chant, and Djoko mistook it for boos...I could be wrong on that.

Seems like Zverev wasnt very happy with Fritz either although not sure if it was Fritz playing lots of drop shots or Fritz girlfriend in the box making some comments towards Zverev

Zverev didn't like the behaviour of some of the people in Fritz's box. He also said he was playing on one leg!

 Bah !  cry

Though I had read that there was some issue with AdM. What was the problem?

- edit: ah, thank you, Jon for answering before I asked.

Hip - it went in last couple of points against Fils, he hobbled to net and it was mentioned in his on court chat. He had a scan and confirmed hed done something nasty

So much fury from people with Centre Coourt tickets today

I know it wasn't expected but, net net, people paid absolute top dollar and got:

A one-way women's match
A mixed doubles, which is only a mess around at the best of times - and the GB pair didn't even win
An invitational women's doubles - i.e. 'geriatrics' who don't play any more and nobody knew some of them anyway

People are livid !

I wouldn't call Ash Barty geriatric ! Casey was the oldest of the four at 39.

But I would still be livid - at £200 a head ! That would make it £500 per day for two of us with additional costs ( driving and parking rather than the £60 train fare each)

That's why I put it in inverted commas smile

But all the same, Barty is someone who no longer is playing pro tennis - and that's one player out of four - the rest were practically unknown to everyone

If you go to a restaurant and pre-order filet steak at filet steak prices, they can't just give you mince and say, you got meat, don't moan

Yesterday's centre court matches an unintended consequence of having a middle Sunday and the rejigging of the programme to include that. So, whereas it used to be all four mens quarters on second wednesday, two on each of court 1 and centre, now with only one you are hostage to fortune. I went years ago on that day and if you preferred watching mens tennis, as I did at the time, but don't now, it was one of the best days to go. Along with schedule changes the prices keep going up, and their ticketing policies are totally intransigent, as they can afford to be due to demand.

Another example of an intransigent ticketing policy - I have a friend who's son bought her 2 tickets for her 60th birthday.  He is working in American and planned to come over to take her, but now is unable to do so.  Not only is she not allowed to go with her husband instead of her son, but she is not even allowed to use her ticket to go by herself.  I know they want to guard against touts, but these people all have the same (quite unusual) surname.  The circumstances have been explained to Wimbledon, but they have refused to make an exception.

That was very much what happened to us. LTA advantage ballot came up with tickets for my wife, we chose centre court middle Sunday and paid, then the email came back with ticket details addressed to our daughter. Presumably she had had our email address also on their records from several years ago when she had got tickets. I explained that my wife and I wanted to go and the tickets should be in her name. Thought it would be no problem....but no good. I complained several times and again no good. So I just thought honestly I can't be bothered to spend £340 plus travel etc when they are like that so we got a refund. Plenty of other things to spend the money on. Again all three of us have same quite unusual surname. Clearly not ticket touts in that situation. More to the point my wife was the one who came up in the Advantage ballot in the first place!
