Weeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass)

Heather should not be getting any more wildcards.

Sabalenka has pulled out

Ugh Hev. This time she is broken from *40-0 and loses 7-5 6-4

I don't think she was ever going to turn it around but should have got that set to a breaker. She missed one game point in particular there that was a sitter.

Really think Heather should think about just focusing on doubles.
Feel she could still achieve more there.

To me it really depends where her singles is at.

Next year, if she is top 200 and still one of our leading olayers without a MD WC, I would certainly give her a MD WC again.

She would be a 'name' people would want to see and she would 'deserve' it on her ranking.

Yes, I've no problem at all with Hev getting a wildcard if she is appprox 150 in the world or whatever in singles

It seems 'ageist' to say she should go and do doubles, and au revoir to all singles help

I don't think we should always favour the youngsters - in fact, I think it's important the youngsters see that GB tennis will support them, for their whole career, if they deserve it, and not trade them in for a younger model, just for the sake of it

She didn't win - but then I bet quite a lot of our wildcards are not going to win .....

I believe Heathers WC should have been given to someone starting out in their career i.e Banks, Rajecki. To me she has turned up, played mediocre and taken a nice pay check. She is not going to achieve anything now and somebody else could have put the money to better use. My opinion. Good luck to all the others.

OK, Sorry I didn't realise the original post had been updated and thought it might be useful to post data about her new opponent as the match is about to start.
