Weeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass)

A nasty slip looks as if it strained Emma's knee and possibly ankle.

Couple of those misses from Lulu at crunch moments made me feel better about Harriet's...

Think that was a slight hyperextension on the slip? To be honest it didn't look a particularly bad fall and it seems Emma is now getting work on her back instead which she's been feeling all match.

I think it her back as well. Shes not getting the consistency and power in her serves and Sun is taking full, advantage. All credit to her.

I think it's done but it's a huge step in the right direction! Clearly a bad back just hope she can finish and take the positives of a last 16 and stay fit...

Still way too passive. When she hits deep and heavy Sun can't cope with it but too many of these balls are sitting and allowing Sun to work her magic. Needs to start imposing herself on this match instead of being a bit of a passenger.

Plays two aggressive points, wins them. Plays four meek points, loses them.

*1-3

It can't be easy for Sun when every mistake you make is cheered to the rafters, it must take a certain mental toughness to stand up to that.

Well, that was pretty abysmal. Sun deserved it, the only player who was actually trying to win the match. Emma was so passive from the first point, doing absolutely nothing with second serve returns that allowed Sun to unleash the forehand point after point.

Still, a great tournament for Emma all things considered, and she can keep building and building over the rest of the year and hopefully stay helpful. But jeezo, what an opportunity that was.

Really poor from Emma today unfortunately. Completely passive and reactionary play. Out women seem to prefer being the underdogs, have been some poor performances in matches that they may be expected to win

We saw some flashes of what Emma can do there towards the end, but it was too little too late.

E was just a little flat today. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that she was expected to win? Does she not handle that kind of expectation well?

I said yesterday that there would be huge pressure on Emma given she was expected to easily beat her opponent .

And so it came to pass she put in a dreadful performance. She blew a wonderful chance to get to the semis . How many chances do you get to have such a kind draw .

Marvelously good performance from Sun, who somewhat out-Raducanued Emma. Bet she's watched Emma in NY a few times.

When Emma did try her usual aggressive game, she seemed to be mis-timing a lot against the leftie spin.

It was a big opportunity, however Emma has sailed back into the top 100 where she belongs. Lets see what she can do at the US Open.
