Weeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass)

Not sure if it is how the bookies see it - tennis abstract has Emma as 5th favourite with a 5.7 percent chance - is that like 17-1?

Rybakina is favourite at nearly 40 percent chance now.

If you convert a 5.7% chance to odds, yes about 17/1.

Emma is 3rd favourite with bet365, after Rybakina and Gauff, at heck of lower odds than 17/1.

Leading 5 are :

Rybakina  9/4

Gauff  11/4

Radacanu  9/2

Ostapenko 10/1

Keys  11/1

While Tennis Abstract will have the stats, in the here and now at this Wimbledon I do think the bookies more truly reflect what is most likely to happen.

Rybakina looked terrifyingly good today, although Woz is not exactly a great grass courter even when she was at her best.

As much as I'd love her to do it, hard to see past a Gauff-Rybakina final, which has the potential to be excellent.

I agree with the first bit - Rybakina looked amazing - it's just glorious to watch her in full flight - she's final material for sure (as far as anything is sure smile)

I've always been a mega Coco fan but I'm not so convinced about her at the moment

I could possibly see her losing to Navarro today

And definitely to Badosa (if she stays fit)

And even Emma

(And even the winner of Paolini/Keys)

Which is to say that although I think the percentage chance of Coco winning if they played 10 matches is very high, if they're only playing one match, then I think there's a good chance of an upset

Which means she'll now make the final winning each match 2 & 3 biggrin

Its Ostapenko and Keys that TA rates above Emma and puts her as their fifth favourite. She is expected to make the semis on their forecasts where she would play Gauff, with Rybakina and Ostapenko in the other semi. That seems to be the common forecast across bookies and TA and presumably other experts who would have a view.

The Bet365 odds have Emma as the biggest favourite in any of the L16 matches

She's 1.16x versus Lulu at 5x

Which is absolutely as it should be

Lulu's match against Zhu was uninspiring - and Lulu in qualis played well but not amazingly - she only beat Knutson in a third set MTB

(Beating Qinwen was obviously a great result but Qinwen sort fo beat herself too)

Allez, Emma

I think Emma will work this match out and come through however please be assured that Lulu sun is a player who is definitely on the up.
I mentioned in another post about a year ago that Lulu sun was being coached by one of the top coaches at the Justine Henin Tennis Academy in Belgium his name is Olivier jeunehomme who has a good track record of taking players from around 250 ranking up to the top 50. He previously has worked with Clara Tauson ,khromacheva and yastremska however she is now working with Vladimir Platenik who has always been a senior tennis coach at the TC Empire tennis club in Trvana , Slovakia which was where players such as Rybakina, Bencic, kasatkina and believe it or not ons jabur spent a lot of time developing their tennis as youngsters.

Lulu's father is Croatian seemingly (and her mother Chinese)

And her step-dad is British (from Devon) - so we can sort of claim her too

I only saw the match where she was match-point down against Knutson, having nearly bottled it earlier, and just about to win. So it wasn't the greatest match and hence didn't really think that highlty of her (and still don't really)

Talk about a multicultural tennis match with Emmas mum also being Chineese and dad Romanian but she was born in Canada representing Great Britain.

Lulu is nowhere near the finished article yet but she will definitely be at Top 100 player and possibly top 50

Emma clinging on in the 2nd set. Sun judging the length of her shots to perfection.

Why is Emma hitting these stupid looping soft forehands landing in the service box? They are horrible.

Emma really having to fight for these holds. There's signs that Sun is not quite as sharp as she was in the first set but not enough of a dip for E to get in front yet.
