Weeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass)

As expected Dart and Norrie whimper out after beating our number 1s who could have had impact on the draw. Disappointing

How can you say Norrie whimpered out ? 15-17 in a tie-break against the world number 4

I was probably a bit of harsh with my comment on reflection. Im sure they both put all their effort in. Just disappointing

The thing about Harriet is she is basically maximising ever last drop of her game to compete at this level. That she is able to do so for such long periods is quite something. While I think those two real bad misses were crucial, Wang also went through periods of missing big returns off weak second serves and spraying groundstrokes. If she'd made those, as she should have been given her ranking, Harriet may never have even been in a winning position.

Jo actually said something quite insightful: that Harriet needed to remember Wang also has a say in the outcome of the match. The problem was she didn't cope when the better tennis started coming, and instead of sticking to or remembering what she was doing well, got flustered and frustrated and tense.

Fourth round would be beyond what I would ever have expected from Harriet. Gutted for her she couldn't make it happen. Especially given it's Svitolina not Jabeur (poor Ons).

I bet Harriet is rueing those two bad shots she missed when it was her point for the taking. Plus to be 3-0 up in the final set. We all know of course what tennis is like and how things can quickly change. But I feel annoyed at the way Harriet was getting so annoyed at herself. I understand she wouldn't be happy but it just felt in that final set when she was cursing herself that she had let any belief go and so her concentration would not be as good. But, still pleased to see her reach the third round and it looks like she will have a new career high ranking after Wimbledon. So hopefully something she can take and build on in the US swing and try to cement her place further in the worlds top 100.

Isn't it one of those 2 or even both who used to fist pumps in their warm-ups?

Coco and Emma are in the same half of the draw.
