Weeks 27-28 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass)

Hev struggling with her back a little, which is what made her pull out of recent events.

1-3*

Heather wins four games in a row from nowhere to lead *5-4 but plays a very soft game to hand the break back.

Minnen back in control.

*5-6

Heather was playing well but the last three games of the set were a horror show- kind of came out of no where

Backhand which looked very good up in Brum is leaking the errors today. Shame. She got herself back in it but that was a pretty weak final three games. Second serve is just being pushed in under 70mph and she's missing so many first serves. Only 41% in

5-7 0-0*

Heather has always been a terrible match player. When shes playing well she is a joy to watch but she will always come off at the important moments

She ought to switch to doubles  only so she has someone to talk to and to play for. She always looks happier playing doubles.

If Heather loses does that mean the rest of the UK women have to follow her example as happened at Eastbourne and Roland Garros?

I suspect that's what she is going to do after this.

Minnen saves three break points (big hitting to save them all, Hev didn't do anything wrong).

*1-2

Minnen is hitting a lot of lines today.

Shame Hev couldn't have had a hold like that perfect love one half an hour ago....

2-2*

Yeah unfortunately she always seems more relaxed and comfortable when she's behind. Which is great for showing everyone the talent is there, but suboptimal if your goal is to translate that into widespread success.

Oh Heather.

*3-4 40-0 and she just gets so, so tight. Major wobble to deuce but drags herself through that game.

4-4*

Probabilities updated with odds just before play started (and adjusted for Emma's change of opponent) - quite a bit of movement since Friday:

GB women's R1 winner probabilities based on odds:

88% Raducanu
79% Boulter
64% Dart
49% Kartal
47% Miyazaki
37% Watson
32% Jones

E(GB women's R1 wins) = 3.95

Watson not hanging tough, so little conviction to leave it all on the court. Really just threw away the match. Singles wildcard-gifted opportunity to have a real go just wasted.
