I don't know if Sonay has got a (relatively) new partner or coach but she was with a man at Surbiton (the guy she went up to at the end of yesterday's match) and previously she'd been on her own whenever I'd seen her so maybe having someone in her corner has helped with her confidence but I agree she looked a lot more assured. Of course I might be completely wrong and he's been around the whole time and I just noticed her with him this year!

It was Ben Reeves. He's been part of the coaching team she's always had from the beginning.

Really strong finish from Harriet and no sign of nerves.

Top work!

What a year for the women!

Very nice

I saw Bai at qualis and wasn't very impressed

But, let's be honest, you can see half of Harriet's matches and not be very impressed :)

She did SO well to make that authoritative - managed to close out the first and then gave Bai no sniff of a chance

Harriet showing at 86 on the live rankings. Just two from her PB.
Hopefully these points banked will help her get DA into US Open.

Thanks Lambda. He seemed like a pretty solid kind of character so good to have in your corner!

The court looks super slow or is it just me?

Agree, the balls are sitting up rather than going through. Have they done something to the grass?

Centre court is clearly playing very differently to the outside courts. Much higher bounce and far more difficult to penetrate. I did wonder if it was Emma and Zarazua's style of play but just watched a set of Vondrousova losing to Bouzas Maneiro; the rallies looked much the same in both matches. It takes a really good shot to penetrate the court. On outside courts players are blasting winners quite easily.

Yes I noticed the centre court was very slow yesterday. Hopefully it will speed up once its been worn in a bit more.

Does anybody know what time play is due to start again on the outside courts?

Courts are being prepared again so it seems soon but can't find any exact timings.

Not good from Katie. Looks totally unprepared for Maria's game which is bizarre given it's hardly a surprise how she plays. Horrible start.

Katies timing seems off which isnt going to help against this type of player.
