I don't know if Sonay has got a (relatively) new partner or coach but she was with a man at Surbiton (the guy she went up to at the end of yesterday's match) and previously she'd been on her own whenever I'd seen her so maybe having someone in her corner has helped with her confidence but I agree she looked a lot more assured. Of course I might be completely wrong and he's been around the whole time and I just noticed her with him this year!
It was Ben Reeves. He's been part of the coaching team she's always had from the beginning.

Thanks Lambda. He seemed like a pretty solid kind of character so good to have in your corner!
Agree, the balls are sitting up rather than going through. Have they done something to the grass?
Centre court is clearly playing very differently to the outside courts. Much higher bounce and far more difficult to penetrate. I did wonder if it was Emma and Zarazua's style of play but just watched a set of Vondrousova losing to Bouzas Maneiro; the rallies looked much the same in both matches. It takes a really good shot to penetrate the court. On outside courts players are blasting winners quite easily.
