Bai looking pretty good to me in these first few games. Forehand is pretty lethal on the grass as it was last year.

Katie has won a 500 and 2 x 250 titles in the last 12 months. Thats more than Draper who has been moved to Centre

In the grass court pre Wimbledon events I commented that Emma didnt come to the net at all even in matches she was winning comfortably. After watching yesterdays match where her opponent constantly made her come forward her volleying was awful. Most of them were into the net. 2 ways of looking at it. She should have worked on it in her earlier tournaments or her volleying is so bad that it needs to be prioritised over the next 12 months. Somehow I thought that she was a good volleyer in the past. But maybe I was wrong. In which case it will be exploited for sure when she comes up against stronger all court players . Right now she is totally relying on her first serve and the depth of her ground strokes to prevent that weakness being exploited too often.

I agree, in part, but I suppose they had to get the foundations correct in the serve and the ground strokes. That slice backhand she is using with a bit more confidence. Maybe volleys next? Still, in her words, needs time to rebuild.

Harriet putting some pressure on but Bai getting big serves down the T on deuce points and a dead net cord to hold the game. No break points for Harriet. Bai 100% behind her first serve still.

*3-3

Good hitting for 40-15*, but Bai serves her way out of trouble. Danger of Harriet getting a little frustrated.

5-4*

Nice first set from Dart 6-4. Only one break of serve - so unlike a Dart match!

Dart fully committing to her serve and ground strokes, making Bai run from side to side. Excellent play to take the 1st set.

Rybakina is a recent former champion and higher seeded

I don't know if it is currently unavailable because it was only viewable live, or if one has to wait a period before it becomes available; but it may be worth checking this site from time to time just in case.

Such a pity that the match is suspended with Harriet leading 6-4 3-0 and looking in control.

Yes, it may continue in the same vein but it obviously is very helpful for Bai to get off, have a good chat to her coach, re-set, and come out again

Yes the first 10mins or so will be crucial for Harriet. Job is nowhere near done.

Ahhh, but after the first 10 mins, she'll have won biggrin

I was very fearful that they'd come off at 1-0 up or so

But I'm pretty confident that now she's 3-0 up, it'll be fine
