Week 26 - The Championships, Wimbledon (grass) - women's qualifying

Haven't seen any but Sonay steals the opener from *3-5 down, saving a set point in the process, and another in the tiebreak to take it 7-6(6).

Millie a break down to A-Rod.

Great win from Banks! First time I've watched her play, that forehand is huge.

Well done Marni. It's really hard to win qualifiers of GSs because of the high stakes - you only have to see how rare it is for GB players to get through to the MD. You could tell both players felt the pressure at times.

Showed a lot of mental strength to get through. Good luck in the next round but hopefully a confidence boost.

Really bizarre choice by organisers not to put all Brits on the televised courts.

Is there really demand for Stefanini/Danilovic??

So much going on.

Hannah romps the first set against a player who looks like she's no idea how to play on grass.

Sonay misses three match points in an 8 deuce game 7-6(6) *5-4

Millie missed two break points and lost the first set 6-4, went up a break in the second but been broken back 4-6 4-3*

Oh, poor Em. Sounds like some serious nerves; bit of a heartbreaker. Still, 3 sets justifies a WC and she way outperformed bettors' predictions.

Who are Marni's two coaches?

Feel sorry for Emily. At one stage it looked as though the grass court season might be a real breakthrough but hasn't quite been able to step up for big matches (Van Uytvanck, Birrell and now Jacquemot).

And a good win for Sonay as well, good to see the girls getting some momentum today

Yes great job putting out a seed. Well done Sonay.

Millie missed another break point at 4-3*, then had to save one at *4-4.

Millie has just missed 40-15* to take the second set. She's SO close but can't quite get this turned round. Saves two game points though, and here's a third set point...

Yes!

Come on!

4-6 6-4 *0-0

Is only one court being streamed? I can only see the option to watch Danilovic.

On the Beeb, yes, but you get a reasonable stream of all the matches here:

Marcinko was junior world champion a couple of years back and still only 18, has only won one match on grass in her young career.
