Week 26 - WIMBLEDON QUALIFIERS

Can anyone who went today confirm the court numbers please ? The Brits are all on courts 1 to 8, and I think they have changed the numbering from last year.

 Yes, they're all different

Courts 1 and 2 are the big 'show courts'

Courts 3, 4, 5 and 6 are the ones by the bank and their parrallel ones i.e. the 'square' of four courts by the bank

The run of courts down the long side of the area goes from court 7-16

(they've taken away all the nice seating they had for the court at the top end of that big run)

And then there's two other courts tucked away behind the show courts

Thanks CD, I was trying to figure it out from a few video clips. So all but Hannah (court 8) are in the main group tomorrow. Trying to work out how to see at least a set of all of them !

(Did you wear the moustache today ? )

It was too hot biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

But metaphorically, yes smile

The problem with the show courts is that it's not so easy to drop in and out if you want to actually sit down

But courts 3 and 5 have seating (and with your back sort of to the sun - or sideways on, at any rate) - and that's really easy to come and go

And the court 3 seat gives you a pretty good view of court 4 too (and court 5 seat gives you a view over court 6)

So that way you can see two courts at once if that makes the planning easier

Hmm there might not be any Brits left by the time I get there on Thursday. Hopefully the Women can give me something to watch.

To be fair, there's never normally many (if any) Brits by the time you get to the FQR

But you really see the players die on the court on that last day - it matters SO much to them - it's great viewing

I got lucky last year with Billy and Anna in FQR. Plus I was there on the Wednesday too which was quite a busy day for Brits. Alas this year Wednesday was out.

If they have a good day there might be as many as four winners tomorrow, but I don't hold out much hope for the younger players. But you never know - look at Ranah and Millie's recent performances. Ranking isn't everything when it comes to these matches.

I feel there will be at least one winner in the 'junior threesome' - might be wrong :(
(which could also mean there might be more )

And, yes, some good hopes in the others too

It certainly feels better than the men (and, to be fair, they had pretty decent draws overall too)

Yes, going tomorrow with my husband. 2 to 2.5 hour journey for us too. Whilst walking to the courts last year, I said it would be the only time wed go but we had such a good day that well put up with the travel time. Great value, very relaxed and easy to get tickets.

Might see you there - red and white striped shirt this year, not the blue and white check shirt  wink

So I mistook you for someone else last year!  Were you at Surbiton on the Tuesday - I was sure I must have been looking at someone from the forum.

Yes I was - and in the same shirt, possibly with my camera, although the battery ran out ! I was suspicious about someone standing behind me at one point - but then they moved away.

I'll be tying to watch Marni, Millie and Katie and it all depends on the timing. COme and say hi if you spot me.

Same here, and those are the top matches I'll be trying to watch too. Do come and say hi if you spot me - probably light trousers, green (or possibly burgundy) T-shirt and light-coloured hat, though the blue-with-orange-trim Hokas on my feet and the frequent typing on my phone are probably the biggest giveaways!

The odds for tomorrow imply the following win probabilities (interesting that the player up against a former top 10 player is seen as the one most likely to win!):

67% Banks
61% Kartal
60% Dunne
50% Stojsavljevic
40% Klugman
39% Xu
34% Rajecki
33% Appleton

E(GB QR1 wins) = 3.83

Interesting odds - I'm hopefully that Hannah and Mingge have a better percentage chance than that given and hopefully we can get several players through.

For people who like multiples, the odds at Bet365 are:

Marni - 1.33
Sonay - 1.44
Katy - 1.57
Mika - 1.83 (which is exactly evens)
Millie - 2
Hannah - 2.10
Mimi - 2.10
Emily - 2.62

So three are odds-on favourites, one at evens, three are really close and even the 'most unlikely' is not far off

Confirms that betters thinks this will be a lot closer than the men......
