Looking at the second qualifying round matches, Sonay has a real chance against Wei I think - the bookies are making her a 1-4 favourite, which is incredible really - they must think she is certain to win and I guess if she does, that she will probably face Andreeva in the final round on Thursday.
The bookies are also making Day (67- 100) a slight favourite against Marni (11-10) ; with a possible 3rd round against Chloe Paquet, I think Marni has had a really horrible section of the draw, but to beat a player of the calibre of Mladenovic should be a real encouragement and I think she may edge this.
The bookies also have Hannah (163-100) as an underdog against Fruhvirtova (11-25) - it should be a great learning experience for Hannah and glad that they have put her and Marni on the main show court, though tough on Sonay to miss out, particularly as she is the most likely winner tomorrow.
Anyway I am sure I echo everyone on here in wishing all three the best of luck tomorrow - I think all 3 matches could go either way - hopefully a noisy crowd and home advantage will make the difference.
Well, Emily Appleton beat Linda F easily at Surbiton - so why not Hannah ?
I think Sonay's match being on court 1 is rather a reflection of her opponent's lack of public profile
Linda F was obviously top-50, as an 18 year-old or whatever
And Kayla Day is seeded, and there's lots of American support
So it sort of makes sense to put those two of the women's matches on Centre
Re Coup's comments - I think Hannah has a real chance too - I think Marni and Hannah's matches will probably be close - I wouldn't be surprised by wins or losses in either, but I genuinely think there is a possibility of all three Brits winning today.
Records to go for today then, if we're being optimistic:
27 years since we last had two women in the FQR (1997)
52 years since we last had more than two women in the FQR (1972 - 4)
Interestingly, these were both back in the days when there were only 8 qualifying places (between 2000-2018, there were 12), though it's arguable that it's just sas hard if not harder these days with the global depth in women's tennis having increased so much since then.

I believe that in 1997 it rained so much that qualifying finished on Sunday in the indoor practice courts at Wimbledon.
