Not to be. Recovered from *2-5 in the final set and there were then two long games before Lamis broke serve to win the match

I wonder if we will now see more of Esther. She reached a JCH of 194 in 2017, occasionally played a few ITFs in 2019, 2020 and 2022, winning about three matches and then nothing till now. Has she been at college somewhere?

She's been at the University of Tennessee since 2020

From what I remember of her, she has an interesting, quirky game...albeit not one that immediately strikes you as potentially world class. But hopefully she'll give it a go in some form.

Yes, she was never one of my favourites - it was always a little frustrating watching her dink the ball left and right, when she looked as though she could do so much more

But maybe college training has shown her a different approach?

There is another newcomer this week, 14 year old Georgie Seager in Thailand.

She made the qualifying draw - am going to post it now.

From what I've seen of Esther playing at college, definitely a bit more more quirky now. Lots of forehand slice and coming into the net

Will be interesting to see how she gets on and whether there's any change in style as she looks to play the pro game

She is now part of Team Bath's pro squad
