Week 26 - ATP 250 - Rothesay International - Devonshire Park, Eastbourne, Great Britain (grass)

Charlie has the break and a 5-3 lead now. Seems to know how to play Billy on grass!

I am sure this is covered somewhere else in this thread but do forgive me not reviewing all 11 pages.

The BBC has exclusive rights to Eastbourne but is barely showing any matches from Devonshire Park?

The BBC have free to air rights to show a limited number of WTA matches. Its a 7 year contract expiring this year. The Tennis Channel are the primary broadcaster showing all matches across both ATP and WTA.

I thought the Billy/Charlie match had been due to start at 11? The other 11 am scheduled matches are playing so presumably the courts are fine, anyone know what the delay is?

They are on court 2.  Live scores has them on serve.

Billy *2-3  Charlie

Charlie takes the first set by 6-3.

There's uninterrupted coverage of the women's tournament on BBC every afternoon from 13.00 until 17.00 or so.  It's frustrating, but I've always assumed that that is a kind of "trade-off" for the fact that it covers the men at Queen's the week before.  Share & share alike!

It's also a higher graded WTA tournament (500) to an ATP 250. And yes, some folk do like women's tennis...

Looking at the rankings of our 3 lads left in Eastbourne:

Billy is live 137 and a win today could take him to 133

Charlie is live 244 and a win take him to 205 - he would be into the US Open qualies with that ranking; feels like today is a massive opportunity for Charlie in particular

Giles is live 310 and a win would take him to 283

In Mallorca, Paul is live 251 and a win takes him to 235

Big matches for all !

Sounds like a bit of a humdinger of a match. Well done to Billy. Good luck to Charlie at Wimbledon. I just hope they don't draw each other in R1, even though that would guarantee at least one of them a place in R2.

Billy get his revenge for Nottingham. Back to back ATP Quarter finals! Did not have that on my British tennis bingo card at the beginning of the season.

Me neither! I think all of us (even Bob!) have been thrilled at how Billy has smashed our expectations this year.

Correct. I actually had Billy down as WR 260 for the end of the year in TAs prediction competition.

Sorry for doubting you Billy.
