Late finish for Katy and Naiktha as they go into a 3rd set.
Katy 5-7 6-4 Naiktha
I don't know if they were one court short that Isabelle and Naiktha were so late in starting today, and then going to a 3rd set TB, setting that half well behind.
The men's match on the court they were supposed to be on went to over 3 and half hours. Millie had completed her 3 set match and the men were still playing so Naiktha's match was switched to that court after Millie had finished.

Five of today's eight 'quarter finals' went to three sets with two of them extending to a 7-6 deciding tie break. In retrospect maybe a 10.30 am start would have been helpful.

But one of those was Anton v Mark and that was a relatively quick 3 setter.
Well done Katie D - poor Naiktha though - her semi final was a very long match with a late finish and little time to recover.
It doesn't detract from Katie D's win, and I think given her ranking that she deserved to qualify.
Each year though in these qualies, we see players coming through long matches and then having to play a second match, with a huge disadvantage; a problem magnified for Naiktha, by the very late start to her semi-final. Someone please make this a 3 day tournament, because getting to the Wimbledon qualifiers really does matter and is a huge opportunity for all those who get it, so the wildcard play offs should be treated with more respect and no-one should have to play 2 matches in one day.

I agree with Andy's comment about not playing two matches in a day. My view, however, is that 4 players should go through. I think that having to qualify is beneficial for playera in two ways. It provides excellent match practice on the surface and, even more, a sense of achievement. Every year qualifiers in big events do better than wild cards.
