Hannah recovered from a poor start and found herself with set points at *6-5. She didn't play them well sadly, and Paquet broke back and took the tiebreak from 4-6 down.

The talent remains frighteningly obvious, but she'll be a bit frustrated that after working so hard to get into contention she didn't take it to three. A few costly doubles, and the end of the tiebreak wasn't pretty.

Sonay lives dangerously in the second set, but holds from *0-30 and then plays a pretty good breaker. Nice win.

Hannah saved a MP earlier on in the second and had an unlucky moment on her first SP when Paquet's mish*t return surprised her (and everyone)

The first set was really not great watching

Hannah looked rather unsure of what she was supposed to be doing, far too many slices, all a bit on the back foot

The second set was miles better though - lots of positives from that

But, yes, she'll be annoyed that she didn't managed to get a third set there

Sonay plays some 'strange' grass court tennis - you've got to smile - but she got the job done, one way or another - well done to her

Like Hannah, Mimi was more competitive in the second set

But she was quite a long way off the pace, always behind, she didn't take the game to her opponent like Hannah did in the second

And ended up losing 1-6 4-6

A really gritty first set by Ella

the other girl was playing pretty well

And I think Ella saved 3 SPs

The tiebreak was a bit tense - but she won it

Very close but Ella did really well to see it out

Marni has had a far easier ride - won the first set 6-1 and rightfully so

She's the more aggressive player - and her opponent doesn't look too happy on the grass

Poor Ella. She is the only woman on the Pro Scholarship Program to miss out on Wimbledon, yet she's the only one of them to have shown any form on grass!

Yeah Mimi was involved in a lot of close games but lost them all and looked a bit further off the pace than I'd expected. Shame.

Given Ella has been really quite poor on the singles court for a while now, this uptick in form has caught me by surprise but is wonderful to watch.

Really nice to see Marni win in 'easy' style

Not suddenly making it really hard for herself, risking injury and giving us all stomach ulcers !

6-1 6-2

Thoroughly deserved

Hontama was absolutely dreadful, but credit to Marni for playing a controlled and positive match. Well deserved win.

Jeezo Ranah that was the mother of collapses after missing break point at *4-3

Lost 11 of the next 12 points to drop the set 4-6.

 That's Ranah for you hmm

Will probably play a blinder for three games now

Ella was terribly close in that second set - but so was the first set

Now into a third .... which is a fair reflection of the play .... but Ella has been doing herself proud so far
