I had no faith at 0-3 down, at 1-4 down, then looked again and saw it was 5-4
Have been holding my breath for the last 5 mins ..... and WHAT a winner to clinch it with
Millie was actually a point from going 5-0 down in the third. A hell of an effort.
I don't think a player should get a main draw wild card on the basis of one tournament even if on grass. But if they take her college career into account and decide that that and her grass court form combined makes her worthy of a wild card, then fair play. The same applies to Jake Fearnley.
I don't think you can not not give a wild card to Lily, particularly after not getting a wild card last year. But she's so streaky. Only three standout tournaments in the last 12 months: US Open second round and her two W75 tournament wins, one from match point down in the first round. But otherwise a pretty average set of results

The qualifiers and lucky losers were placed ages ago but the useless WTA site has only updated those on the order of play tomorrow, which Millie isn't one of them. The 4 spots not updated where Millie will have been placed in 1 of are Krejcikova, Dart, Pliskova and her former college teammate Shnaider.
Anyone likely to be going and spectating on Tuesday? I've booked a ticket but not been able to persuade any of my friends to go along so would be good to be able to have a natter with someone.

It's actually quite liberating to go on your own. I was in a similar situation in 2019 at Wimbledon when I got a single ticket the night before and ever since then I've opted to go on my own every time.

I would actually give Millie a bigger shot here. Shnaider is good and is obviously much higher ranked, but her record on grass is pretty limited. She lost in the first round in the Netherlands and last year fell to Anna Brogan in Wimbledon qualifying.
Uchijima I rate quite highly and Harriet is in patchy form herself, so I'd see her as the underdog.
