Our first Queen's main draw winner:

L32:  (WC) Billy Harris WR 162  (= CH) defeated Tomás Martín Etcheverry (ARG) WR 32 by 6-4 3-6 6-3  biggrin

The way things are going in GMP's match against Ben Shelton (6) at the moment, the French qualifier is going to come out on top &, with the best will in the world,  I don't fancy Blly's chances against him.

As I feared:

L16:  (Q) Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (FRA) WR 67 (CH = 66 last month) vs (WC) Billy Harris WR 162

Still 32k euros for reaching the second round. I wonder how many years earnings that was when he was travelling to ITF tournaments in his van!

So pleased for him. Very well deserved.

Billy could get into the top 60 if he wins Queens - worth putting out there

Watching Andy is so stressful. He looks in pain, he looks like an old man! And the constant angst! Makes you wonder why he does it!!

But would you have fancied Billy's chances if he'd had to play Shelton?????

A van which, I noticed, Clare Balding actually deigned to mention in her brief reference to the outcome of the match.  Some researcher has clearly earned his/her corn by doing what he/she is paid for - or perhaps he/she took a short cut by doing some digging on this message board...  wink

There was a very brief clip during the break between the first & second sets in Andy Murray's match & it looked pretty nasty:  Dan actually cried out.  cry

He was at the back of the court but obscured by the back stop hoarding. It looked a little like he twisted his knee and then fell, was in quite a bit of pain at the back, moved to the side of the court by the chair and had physio for a while, tested it and clearly decided he couldnt play.

Hard to tell if it is long term from that, he looked quite upset with the situation

Whether it was actually a repeat of his calf injury, not sure...

So good to see Andy get the win on his 1000th ATP tour match. Hopefully that will do his confidence a lot of good.

So I get wrapped up with work today and miss all the action.

Wow. Go Billy.  Every time I think he may have maxed out his ranking, he just keeps on moving up.  Currently into the top 150 in live rankings at WR144.

I reckon the media have got it wrong about Andy winding down his career towards retirement.

It's Cam Norrie that's winding his career down, not Andy.
