As well as having a decent domestic career, he was responsible for the implementation of the Volkswagen Ratings Scheme (equivalent of a tennis handicap) which was already being used in France and allowed players of all levels (beginners to pros) to play the same event through a series of sequential draws. These events ran through 80s and 90s. Now replaced by World Tennis Number.
Big ranking rise on the way for Emily - around 44 places from last week and another 20 from this tournament (and counting !)

At least still going to be a new CH on Monday, being live #355 as against her CH 368 from last October. Will be up to GB #11
