Week 24 - ATP Challenger 125 - Rothesay Open - Nottingham, Great Britain (grass) - singles

I'll be there spectating tomorrow but didn't think I needed to buy a ticket in advance based on previous visits and Centre is all sold out so have had to settle for a ground pass. Hopefully there will be a few no-shows and empty seats.....

Paul, Dan, Katie and Heather back to back is a good line up.

Charlie and Billy on court one if Ground pass gets you there and doubles on all the other courts, although lots of Brits in those

Am wondering whether there's ever been a more successful first round at a tournament of this level. Seven wins out of a possible eight of nine, with one match still to finish. Must be something in the Nottingham air for the second year running.

I'd say for Henry, Jack PJ, Jake and Charlie Broom, it is quite a big next match in their respective careers. Playing Dan, Cam, Paul Jubb and Lloyd Harris respectively are all matches which, if they can perform well or win, will make people pay attention!

Equally, for Cam, Dan, and Paul (and Lloyd) these are banana skins that they are going to need to tread carefully around.

Going to be fascinating as the next two days unfold

Jake on fire too good against Jubb first set.
I am sure Jake beat Paul in Glasgow last year

Jubby fighting back, 5-2 in the second set. Good to see both of them showing some fight.

Going into a third set after Jubb faced seven match points against him in a very long tie-break. Absorbiing stuff.

Fearnley bottled that. 6 match points, 3 on serve - no first serves

There have been several long tie breaks this week, from memory. Looks like a good battle, this match.

L16:  (Q) Jacob Fearnley WR 525 defeated (WC) Paul Jubb WR 298 by 6-1 6-7(14) 6-3  biggrin  bleh

Paul had to battle hard in the tie-break: some spectacular stuff from young Jake, who spurned seven match points (& two more in the decider)!  Tough conditions, too.

Got there in the end! Some impressive play there - maybe Jake up for a Wimby wildcard?
