That was quite a recovery. The 2nd seed was serving at a set and 4-0 up and Sonay levelled at 4-4 and took it to a tie break which she won. If she wins the final set we can start calling her Houdini.
R1:- Sarah Beth Grey (GBR) WR363 [WC] LOST TO Rebecca Marino (CAN) WR161 4-6 3-6

L16:- Emily Appleton (GBR) WR399 [Q] v Taylah Preston (AUS) WR137
L16:- Harriet Dart (GBR) WR90 [5] v Alison Van Uytvanck (BEL) WR397 [SR97]
L16:- Katy Dunne (GBR) WR330 [WC] v Harmony Tan (FRA) WR226 [Q]
And although Linda F looked horribly lacking in confidence in the first set, she started putting a little more on the ball in the second, and Emily missed chances to really hammer the nail home. And she was threatened with a break back. AND then pulled out some absolutely stellar serves. As said on the other threads earlier this year, her serve is technically so nice, with power, it's one of the best serves amongst our girls (puts Sonay's into the shade, for instance)
And unlike Harriet on that court in previous years when the pressure of the crowd being SO close and pretty rowdy made her choke in epic proportions, Emily kept calmly going about her business.
And won handsomely
I was smiling for 10 minutes solid afterwards.....
