Netball announced big changes a couple of days ago reducing the top league from 10 to 8 teams with two new ones and 4 scrapped. With Bristol, Bath and Surrey gone there is no top Netball in the SW or South except London or Cardiff.
Sophie plays for Surrey and is confirmed as outside the National squad sk it is not surprising she is looking to reignite her tennis and see what she can achieve.
As you say, a tough qualies but good experience whatever her outcome.
I'm off to watch the play ... free today and always a great tournament to visit.
Ella is entered in the W15 in Madrid - she was 14th on the acceptance list. And presumably will be playing doubles with Holly, who has also made the main draw.
Bit disappointed with that from Isa. Not necessarily that I thought she'd win, but she didn't play well at all. Was defending most of her ranking points here as well.
Nice performance from Amelia. Urszula was terrible.
Hard to know who is more painful to watch - Eliz or Urszula...
Isa is struggling, which is a shame after doing so well last year but Kimberley is a solid pro.
Good question! Though have to say Urszula would make a poor 70 year old club player look good. overall level is truly shocking.
Isabelle might have done ok had the court been half as big again but really a very very disappointing effort from her although up against a decent player.
This time last year Isabelle was beating Madison Brengle and Viktorija Golubic. I know she's had some injury struggles, buy any thoughts why she hasn't pushed on?
Well, for anyone who can go to qualis tomorrow, that's a great day of good quality tennis
But, yes, terribly hard for our players
However, there's always a few players who are utterly useless on grass, and hate it.
Not usually the Aussies - generally they're all pretty good - but all the others would have question marks against them, unless they really have form on grass
Naiktha might have a good chance for instance
And maybe Millie? I've no idea about Ursula on grass
Anyway, lovely to see Ranah back, and Millie, and Sophie at least in the draw, and Isa Lacy too, after her exploits last year
Well her sister was pretty good on grass.
Urszula lost to Alice Gillan in qualifying last year. She also lost to Maia and Heather on grass. It's a match that Millie could win.
ETA - in fact since 2016 she has only made it out of qualifying once in 15 tournaments on grass.
Thanks, the addict
I put a fiver on Millie based on (a) believing in Millie, having seen her play on grass last year and - more importantly - (b) your summary of Ursula
Hope Ranah is better. She has been away from the action for a while but so has Isabel and she did not look as if she was ready to
carry on her tennis career.
