So the grass season is upon us with the qualifying draw for Surbiton out tonight.
Harriet and Lily are in the main draw. Jodie withdrew last week. Fran, Sonay, Katy, Beth, Emily A and Eden are in qualifying with Naiktha, Ranah and Isabelle to join them filling the vacancies left by withdrawals and wild cards. Freya, Alice, Eliz and Danielle are the next 4 alts after Isabelle. Other notable alts are Lauryn JB, Maia, Chesca Simpson, Jacquelyn Ogunwale, Given Roach, Alicia Dudeney, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis and Hannah Rylatt to name a few.
Heather, Jasmine Conway and Sofia Johnson we think had entered as main draw only and were automatically withdrawn on Thursday but are still free to take wild cards.
Wild cards are probably going to be Heather if available, Fran and Sonay. The final WC is less certain but could go to Katy as the next ranked player. Eden lost as a WC in R2 in a close match with Lily last year and that may be something that weighs in her favour. Millie Rajecki may be a possibility but I think she would probably be more in line for a Q WC.
Last year Q WCs went to 2 US college players (Sofia and Millie R) and 3 juniors (Mika, Isabelle and Hannah Read) It's anybody's guess where the QWCs will go this year, but I would suggest Millie R, Sophie DL are probably definites. The juniors are less clear cut maybe Jacquelyn Ogunwale, Hannah Rylatt and Brooke Black? I would have put Jasmine and Sofia in contention for a QWC but if they entered as MDO it seems unlikely they would have applied for a qualifying wild card unless they changed their mind after the entry deadline. I assume although Gabia P lost in junior RG qualifying on Thursday that still counts as her Week 23 tournament and so she wouldn't be allowed to play this week? Otherwise I'd say she was a certainty for a QWC.
I agree with all that Lamda. I think if Heather wins her mixed today she is out entirely, and the fourth wildcard could maybe go to Ranah? Although she hasn't played any ITFs since March - is she fit?
They could also give one to Tomljanovic.

Qualy draw out. No further late main draw withdrawals. I guess they treat junior qualies same as pros for Grand Slams and you can lose and play an event the following week.
Looks like wildcards to Katy, Beth, Sonay and Fran.

The qualifying draw and order of play are out, and I'll put up the draw shortly.l
Qualifying wild cards to Amelia Rajecki, Alicia Dudeney, Brooke Black, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis and Gabia Paskauskas
Missing from qualifying are Fran Jones, Sonay Kartal, Katy Dunne and Beth Grey. I'll let someone else work out the likely wild cards, but Lambda looks to have it sorted.
Well, for anyone who can go to qualis tomorrow, that's a great day of good quality tennis
But, yes, terribly hard for our players
However, there's always a few players who are utterly useless on grass, and hate it.
Not usually the Aussies - generally they're all pretty good - but all the others would have question marks against them, unless they really have form on grass
Naiktha might have a good chance for instance
And maybe Millie? I've no idea about Ursula on grass
Anyway, lovely to see Ranah back, and Millie, and Sophie at least in the draw, and Isa Lacy too, after her exploits last year

Well her sister was pretty good on grass.
Urszula lost to Alice Gillan in qualifying last year. She also lost to Maia and Heather on grass. It's a match that Millie could win.
ETA - in fact since 2016 she has only made it out of qualifying once in 15 tournaments on grass.

Martincova can play on grass. Although if you remember she played that infamous first round match against Jodie Burrage at Nottingham last year, which Jodie won in spite of committing 102 unforced errors!
