Kuwait F2 - 15K

6 Brits entered qualies, Dan Cottier, Alex Miotto, Luke Campbell, Ed Seator, Ed Allinson, Saeed Farah.

3 made it through to the main draw - Alex, Luke and Ed. Luke knocked out Ed Allinson in rd1 qualies.

Main draw:

L Campbell [GB] v M Maamoun [Egy]

L Childs [GB] v O Bahrouzyan-Awadhy [UAE] [Longest surname on the tour ?]

A Miotto [GB] v A Rabeea [Kuw]

E Seator [GB] v M Al Ghareeb [Kuw][2]

Luke and Ed both have horrible draws. Luke's opponent was runner-up last week while Ed's opponent is ranked 401, made the quarters last week and gave Federer a close match in ATP Dubai in Feb.

Alex has a great chance of reaching rd2 for the second successive week, his opponent is an unranked 19 year old wc who lost in rd1 to Chiudinelli last week.

Lee ought to win rd1 on a ranking basis with his opponent ranked 1066. However the Kuwati reached the semis last week and so on a form basis, Lee is probably likely to lose in straights. Not sure what to predict for this one.

That's a challenge!

Well, he equals the two longest surnames in the current world rankings with 18 characters, including spaces & hyphens:

Janse van Rensburg, Benjamin (WR 1199, 4 pts)
Dasnieres de Veigy, Jonathan (WR 1354, 2 pts)

(as per Steveg, rankings of 22/5/06)

Must do some work, must do some work, must do some work.........

A few first round matches have been played today but the only Brit in action was Dan Cottier who reached the main draw courtesy of a lucky loser spot. Unfortunately he lost 6-0, 6-2 to fellow qualifier Dmitry Ivanov of Uzbekistan who's also ranked 1510.

No, and I'd checked all those sites plus a couple more - was hoping someone here would know something.

That's really strange. There is normally something on one or other of the sites by now!

Well, knowing nothing I think we should assume Lee won the tournament!

The result is on ITF at last!

But it's bad news...

Semi-Final
BRUTHANS, Victor (SVK) [1] d. CHILDS, Lee (GBR) [4]  7-5 6-4

Oh well, wasn't worth the wait, really.

Shame, but that's still a pretty respectable result against the number 1 seed.
