On a related note, Andy said in his press conference today that Jamie doesn't have a doubles partner for Wimbledon and he might play with him.

Am guessing (only guessing mind) that Michael Venus might be playing with Marcus Daniell, with whom he won Olympic bronze in Tokyo and has returned from injury for a last hurrah.

Apparently Venus is playing the grass court season with Neal Skupski. I can't keep up!

It would be good to see Andy and Jamie together - Venus is playing with Neal at Stuttgart (1st alt currently) and assumed that was due to Jamie preparing for Queens. Presumably Jamie would also miss Queens to run the event, hard to play and run it together. And presumed Neal would be with Venus at Queens as well, so why not the whole way.

So maybe they just decided to go separate ways on grass or through the Olympics?

Interesting re Neal and Venus - when you say the grass season, you just mean Wimbledon, presumably?!

The Guardian predicting that the likely doubles scenerio would be Joe and Andy, Neal and Dan, which would tie in with Dan playing Paris. ALso saying they played the FO with the Olympics in mind: from Tum C today

"Murray and Evans had opted to pair together in doubles with an eye on the Olympics, and they became the first non-French pair to receive a doubles wildcard in two decades, which the tournament director, Amélie Mauresmo, described as a gesture in recognition of Murrays historic career. Great Britain can field two doubles teams and the probable scenario is the world No 5, Joe Salisbury, being selected alongside Andy Murray and the world No 10, Skupski, teaming up with Evans."

According to the New York TImes, Venus will stick with Neal through Wimbledon, most likely, given they will start the first two events together on grass

"Jamie usually plays doubles with New Zealands Michael Venus, but will have to miss next months cinch Championships at the Queens Club because of his new role as tournament director. Venus will subsequently play with a different partner there expected to be Britains Neal Skupski and for continuitys sake stick with him for Wimbledon, leaving Jamie available."

Skupski and Venus are direct entries at Stuttgart. And yes, playing together through Wimbledon.

Yeah, I knew that, honest! I had typed Daniell with Giron is 1st alt currently, edited the first bit out and forgot the second part of the comment!

Ha, I read this initially as meaning Venus Williams, and hence my comment below!

Another frustrating doubles day. Henry leads Luke 6-3 2-3, while Joe is level at 2-2. Neal still hasn't started his first round match seven days into the event.

Seemingly, there was another major blunder in the organisational side of the event (well done, Améllie)

Luke and all the others whose matches were to be completed were supposed to stay on site and finish off when - as predicted - it was dry again

But, in error, they were all told the their matches were suspended.

And when the organisers tried to contact them to rectify the error, it was too late......

That's insane CD. Had assumed they had prioritised singles in juggling the schedule but hadn't appreciated they had left courts empty that could have been used to complete doubles.

Ha, true - being honest, I wanted Henry and Harri to win, as I dont really know much of Skander, plus Henry and Harri felt like the pair who needed it more in terms of rankings etx
