Heather and Katie just won first two games now courts covers going on all outside courts. Managed to get a pic with them both

Am guessing that Heather will play with Harriet rather than Katie for the grass courts, or even an international player, but no harm playing one Slam with Katie to get a feel on the clay together. Appreciate that getting a pasting could be considered a harm!

Can't comment on whether katie is a poor doubles player or not but they have turned this around, won the 2nd set and a break up in the 3rd...

Katie and Heather lost but it was not easy for the seeded pair. Well done Katie and Heather.

I enjoyed that despite the result. They made it a very close match with just one or two points in it. They both played well but I felt Katie's inexperience in doubles told as I felt she hit too many shots at the volleyer who then hit winners. I think playing more doubles would help Katie improve her game, although I do realise she has to manage her schedule and not play too much. It's tricky getting the balance right.

Katie's volleys weren't the best. Heather is so lovely to watch. She kept the pep talk going and encouraging Katie. Really nice to see.

Based on my experience with my Son, Katie should be past managing her schedule for health reasons now.

Does anyone expect Katie's recent interest in playing doubles to last past the Olympics?

Lol no. Maybe the odd charity or exho with Alex or something. Thing is, it's kinda too late to be a decent doubles player unless she commits to it so Heather loses out really.

Katie played a lot of doubles around age 16 - 18, playing about 20 ITFs a year, often wirh Katy Dunne, and won 4 ITF titles during 2013 and 2014.

Largely I assume because of her injury and illness issues, it very much came off the agenda. But if she gave it any concentration again she could probably do pretty well. Agree though that I can't see any particulat longer term doubles conmitment now.
