Emma will be close by the looks of it. There's a few injured at the moment still on that list (Muchova, Fernandez, at least). Cornet retiring which moves Jodie another place up.
Might be an unpopular take, but I think this is the year I wouldn't give Hev one. She seems less committed to singles now, turning up to a tournament the other week and just playing doubles, and a sporadic calendar. Give her a wc for doubles and mixed and send her to the olympics in the same but maybe its time for the passing of the torch.

Pretty sure she'll get one this year but her singles career has been in decline for some time now so it could well be the last.
Katie Swan only just started hitting again presumably won't be playing this year.

Yes, I'm also.pretty sure that Heather will get a MD WC, and so she should given she has a better chance of actually winning a MD round than any player outside the GB top 6
Sonay hasn't entered, as far as I can see. I'd presume this means she's been told that she got at least a QWC for winning Notts2. If that is the case, I'd also expect Mika to get one for winning Notts1. Mimi Xu should get one as U18 Brit girls winner. Two more for the winners of QWC play-offs. That leaves 3 more available.
In the WTA50s in Feb at Edgbaston and Roehampton, our best performers were Katie D (SF) and Heather (RU).
9 players using protected rankings gives an initial cut off of 97 which is crazy. Not sure I've ever seen the last person into a slam be inside 100.
Might be a few withdrawals but I think it's unlikely, the rules brought in in the last couple of years make it beneficial to stay in the draw and withdraw after it's made to get prize money.
Shame Jodie and Emma will almost certainly have to use up two wildcards.

Yes, I'v noticed there's been a pretty big change since this was brought in too
Not being contrarian for the sake of it, but I would be amazed if Hollie Smart got one.
In the future possibly if she keeps progressing, but will she not be in the juniors automatically given her performance at the Nationals.
Did anyone actually say she would?
I can't believe anyone things Hollie Smart will get a wildcard for Wimbly adult qualis - she's a long way off - it's not being contrarian
Overall, I think everyone roughly agrees this year - there isn't too much wriggle room - but I do like the way that the wildcards are always decided so late (for all Slams) - so there will be plenty of room for the players to really make a claim in their grass court events
By the way, and I mentioned it before, does anyone know where Isabelle Lacy is? Injured? (studies????)

Oh , CD! You fell for one of Jeffs little tongue in cheek comments! Get with it!

Ironically the initial cut-off for Roland Garros was 99. There were eight players with special rankings.
In order to get 50 per cent of prize money, any player that withdraws needs to have played an event in the previous 21 days so for those that haven't no incentive to hang on to the bitter end.
Andreescu is the only one entered with a PR who would currently fall foul of that requirement. I think we might see 3-4 main draw withdrawals before qualifying but that's about it. I don't think there's any realistic prospect of Emma getting in the draw on her PR (which is a whole other argument she should have a PR well inside the cut off but her/her team messed up).

SR (but PR is way better terminology) and I'm surprised she isn't entered with it? I thought they could use their SR/PR for two slams?
I think Emma is using her SR/PR for entry, it is listed as 103 or some such on the link someone posted above - which still leaves her a number of places outside the cut off
I'm surprised Emma has entered with her SR since a WC is virtually guaranteed. Should she get in with her SR she would then be relying on either a good grass season to get her into the top 100 or a WC to get into the US Open. Okay, so she's a former US Open champion and likely to get a WC there but I don't think it is as guaranteed as it is at Wimbledon.

She can, and she is. Issue is that because she withdrew very late from Madrid (I think it was that event) when she was out with no intention of coming back, it moved the date from which her SR was set from well inside the top 100 to just outside it. Which has mucked a few things up.
