Wimbledon wildcards

Marni has been given a wildcard for Eastbourne which means she must have had her Wimbledon wildcard upgraded.

Ranah and Ella have qualies wildcards for Eastbourne (as they got last year) so will not be getting the additional wildcard now available for Wimbledon qualies (which I suspect will go to the loser of Millie v Katie in pre-qualies).

As a long term Marni fan, I'm very happy for her if she indeed now has a MD WC. Must admit to being a bit surprised and she herself hadn't quite pushed her case as much as she might have recently with not seeing out some big matches

Then again, if the space has become available ( and folk sure don't like them going to alts ) she has about the strongest case of the remaining Brits.

A Q WC to the loser of Millie vs Katie S would be good too. Trouble might be that though most of us clearly condider that the bottom half to be the stronger half, the top half finalists, Katy D and Naiktha, are the #1 #3 seeds here.

Double entries out.

Heather in with Minnen, Liv in with Mihalikova

Eden/Sam and Tara/Beth are only British pairs on alternates list not with wildcards.

Naiktha is not entered at all. Which is a surprise.

I wouldn't be so sure just yet about Marni. The LTA story about Eastbourne WCs doesn't make any sense.

"The final main draw wild card entries have been announced for the Rothesay International Eastbourne, including British stars Harriet Dart, Lily Miyazaki, Heather Watson, Amarni Banks"

There are 2 regular WCs and 2 exempt WCs available. Unless both Emma and Osaka who had exempt WCs have withdrawn (and I think Osaka may have as she was removed from the player entry list today), I don't understand how they can give 4 regular WCs.

 That's a nice selection

It obviously made sense to recompense Ranah and Ella for not being even able to play play-offs

And Beth and Eden have good-ish rankings and are decent on grass

So Naiktha and Millie have a doubles wildcard into Wimbledon?

Based on the entry list, yes?

Excellent news

Oh great, it's just been updated to show this. Good news, was worried when Naiktha wasn't showing on the original list at all.

Would be pretty strange to gave Marni a MD WC over Sonay after this week's results.

Disappointed Holly and Ella haven't got a doubles WC given their good form recently.

So who has got the final women's singles wild card? Is it confirmed?

After this morning's update it is still available. Marni has not been upgraded to the main draw.

Yeah so looks just like a LTA Comms mess up with the Eastbourne release?

My guess (though I hope to be proved wrong!) is that it has been left open for the Ilkley winner, who turned out to be Marino, who's not a DA.
