Not close to the detail but the Millie one (or lack of one) amazed me!

I wonder if Millies mum (Mm is her board name) is around and is able to pass comment (without swearing)

LADIES' QUALIFYING SINGLES

2 Amarni BANKS (GBR)
3 Sonay KARTAL (GBR)
4 Hannah KLUGMAN (GBR)
5 Clervie NGOUNOUE (USA)
6 Mika STOJSAVLJEVIC (GBR)
7 Mingge XU (GBR)
8 Wild Card Play-off place
9 Wild Card Play-off place

I'm pleased Emily App got a quali wildcard

The other quali wildcards are as expected

But, yes, no room for Millie??? And no room for Naiktha???

Two of our best performers on grass so far

Frankly, for MD, I wouldn't have given Kerber or Wozniacki wilcards - I'd have gone with the French 'braver' approach

But I bet the AELTC loved giving them wildcards hmm

(Not sure I'd have given Lily a MD wildcard either but rankings do talk, obviously, and at least it's 'clean')

I would've given Kerber one as it's harder to argue with a former winner. Even if she hasn't won any matches.

I really like Hev, but Im not sure about a MD WC. I most probably would have risked that on a younger player. I dont think WozniakI has shown any form on grass as stated, so heres hoping she is drawn against Emma, Katie or one of the other Brits in the first round. Qualifying looks pretty stacked so I dont think anyone will come through TBH, unless they are lucky and meet a succession of clay court specialists.

Withdrawals from the British Tour can sometimes be a good indication of who have play-off WCs. Allegra (who we know has a WC) and Gabia Paskauskas have withdrawn from Frinton since I looked yesterday, so Gabia may have a play-off WC? She was on my short-list. Hep is still in the draw in Frinton, as is Hollie Smart but 1 or both may get called if further places become available.

If Millie gets a qualifying WC (surely she must after this weekend?) then the WC for the highest ranked NCAA player becomes available for the next highest ranked to sign in. None of the other eligible women have been seen in any of the ITF or domestic events so can't see any of them signing in. The remaining eligible players, in order, are Vic Allen, Angelica Blake, Grace Piper, Sofia Johnson, Destinee Martins and Kylie Bilchev. That's probably another play-off WC that goes back to the LTA.

Complete mystery how she didn't !

I was utterly with you

But at least, I guess, we don't have the issue of the NCAA one going unused.....which would have been a shame

Based on Hannah's performance yesterday, I would have given her the chance to play pre qualies to build form. Millie is already definitely ready!

The main draw ones all totally as expected after the last few weeks. I think Id probably have cut a couple of the super youngsters from qualies actually but I understand why theyve done it. I suspect those were all decided ages ago and Millies given them a headache

But then you'd have had to put Mika in pre-qualis too

I don't think the triumerate were ever in question

But presumably if you had to push one out, you'd have pushed out Mika (after all, Hannah had MP to be U18 champion and make it in as of right, and Mika has not shown form on grass yet)

Naiktha was quarter-finalist in the doubles last year, wasn't she? (With Maia, I seem to remember)

But no WC here (yet) - for Naiktha

Is she waiting to firm up a pairing?

Yes I'd have swapped Mika and Millie I think. Otherwise there's no space at all unless you put one of Sonay/Marni/Emily into pre-qualies which wouldn't have felt right (different if Emily hadn't picked up some good wins in the last fortnight, and Emily did beat Naiktha and is ranked much higher).

I can't work out who Naiktha could sign-in with. She's not ranked high enough to get in direct with an overseas partner and there's no non-partnered Brits unless she ends up randomly with Maddie or Millie (who actually might have tried as a pair given they played Surbiton, although not very well) or goes with one of the favoured juniors and tries that way.

Madness. Beat two top 100 on grass and close-ish match v top 50 player. Unless suddenly added into MD, maybe after this weeks tournaments finished then I can't understand it. Regarding NCAA sign ins....if Millie had a qwc (or MD) I would bet that at least a couple of those qualified NCAA too 100 would be signing in as would realise they had chance, especially if in next couple in rankings?

I think people saying Millie should be on the list should also be saying who they would take off to make space. Because it's not like there's any sitting unallocated.

Other option is to scrap play-offs altogether or play it right through and in only have one winner. But they'd have needed to decide that months ago.

Do Ella, Ranah, Marni now need to decide whether to drop out and go for WC Play offs or stick in and miss out or pick up the final wild card place off the back of this weeks performances?

Sorry, good - went up and down the list and couldnt see her name!!

So, is that the choice Ella and Ranah face - although I guess they get to see how they do today and then drive down the M1 tonight to reach London, find somewhere to stay etc - life of a tennis player isnt fun
