(and a mega well done to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, for winning the singles, as a wildcard, a 20 year-old French guy who comes from Lyon, a local boy, and a man-mountain, at 2.03m and not a string bean build either - third-set TB, really tight, great crowd, the young man loves coming to the net, thoroughly enjoyed it, watch out for him.....)

Definitely one to watch in Paris and maybe on the grass also.

Interesting to see Mpetshi Perricard's breakthrough this week. He was one of the Class of Roland Garros 2021, when French players filled all four semifinal places in the boys singles. Van Assche (winner) and Fils (runner-up), both a year younger, broke through more quickly, but MP had the weapons, and I think it's taken slightly longer to grow into his game as he's so tall. Only slightly mind - he's only 20.
Hes up to live 66 and is currently around 19th alt at Wimbledon. Be interesting to see if he progresses further the next few weeks and can get into wildcard discussions- why not, hed certainly be worthy, IMO.
