JD breaks to take the first set 7-5.  This is entertaining tennis.  The stream on https://en24.sportplus.live/tennis/atp-rome/5424474/   isn't great, but it is free and it works, which is more than can be said for TennisTV.com

This link has stopped working for me, anything to do with sportplus just hangs and times out ???  Is it still ok for everyone else ?

Well done Joe and Eajeev - I must admit I expected Jamie and Michael to win that. Good stuff

It seems to be working for me at the moment - not great quality and with the occasional stutter, but it has always been like this.

and that is it, over and done with, for the singles at least.

Not been a good set of Masters event, tbh!

Reading this Swedish book on Borg, wilander and the rise of Swedish tennis - its really good.

They talk about Borg around 1975/76 and playing Rome and mention that at that time and around the early 70s generally, the Italian Open was regarded very much as the equal of the French - the French entry was hit by splits in the pro tour and the WCT circuit and WTT causing clashes (Wimbledon didnt get impacted really) whereas Rome was part of the WCT circuit which had stronger entries in some years than France.

We hold up slam numbers as the measure but really in many past years not all slams, Australia and France in particular, had the same currency in terms of achievement.

Two Chilean players in last 4 here. Alongside Tommy Paul as well. This clay season has been a bit all over the place.

hard to see a French obvious favourite ! Partic if Sinner pulls out
