Give Hannah a break. This was a development event for her. A chance to try various things against quality opposition (comparative to the alternatives in juniors this week). Her focus in this swing is Junior Roland Garros and what she did this week, and maybe in the J300 next week, is learning in preparation for that and the J500 beforehand.
I agree completely.
This is the first time that Hannah has played adults on clay
And I thought this was a very good tournament
I thought she was playing far better tennis than she had been at Roehampton, or even the nationals
It was more on the front foot, less reactive and 'miserable' - obviously clay is not her best surface but, as said, for the first time playing adults on clay, she was trying to find the right balance and erring on the side of being the more offensive player - which was a joy to see and is exactly what she needs to do (IMO) for all her tennis at the moment
IMO I feel a bit for Hannah. Her success has elevated her in the junior game and whether she likes it or not she is going to be the main focus it seems going forward. She creates a buzz, like another unnamed British tennis player! So hope she can come to terms with it and enjoy the journey. Have to say it helps the others coming through. Little in the press on Mikas triumph in the W35and Mimi just keeps on going now under the radar. Used to be it was Mimi who took the coverage. I think these two girls have benefited from Hannahs profile although that might all change. True to say we have some great prospects, but we need to be patient.
