Reading twitter lots of folks saying shes not serious about tennis , doesnt want to embarrass herself or her sponsors etc.
I think its fine - therell be lots of scrutiny on grass, she wont have played grass in a few years and she wants to prep. Hardcourts practice makes sense, lots of players use it to hone their ground strokes and attacking game ahead of grass. Itll be fine!
Social media throws up some appalling stuff about Emma. I hope she doesn't read it.
Whatever SM say, it shouldn't be embarrassing to lose a tennis match on arguably your worst surface. However it makes sense to give yourself your best chance to do well on your better surfaces with the grass season and the hard court seasons to come when she is still relatively low down in the rankings. This season seems like it's about re-building her ranking and getting herself really fit in my opinion for next season to really start from a better platform.
Ryan has JJ Wolf
Oliver Crawford has Tu of Australia
Jan C has Kudla
Billy has Nava (USA)
Being honest a bunch of Americans and an Aussie for opening matches isnt the worst we could have expected. Not sure Im expecting many wins, maybe Jan C has the best chance, possibly Billy could spring an upset.

I'd forgotten about Ryan. When was the last time he played?
