I hope Hamfmann reads the script - one last Djoko and Andy match would get the public interested. Geneva will be having a quiet word .

Thanks Paul - is there a link to a story on it you could post?

Not surprised. She has no points to defend. Hasnt played competitively on clay for weeks, so why risk the embarrassment of a first round defeat in qualifying from a honed clay court player. Better to get ready for the grass, if she doesnt get in with people withdrawing?

Not sure if this was the source www.sportskeeda.com/tennis/news-emma-raducanu-withdraws-french-open-2024-qualifying-days-refused-wild-card-entry-tournament-s-main-draw#

Although she is still on the qualifying list on the FO website.

 Embarrassement?

I assume this is tongue in cheek? biggrin

Haha, yes possibly. Somethings up though. Her socials are always pretty good, but all we have had nondescript posts from sponsors and a photo of her with her rackets, but no indication of where she is practising. When she was getting ready for the grass, she posted a picture of her feet on the base line of a grass court. So Im not sure what is going on. Someone maybe better informed. Needless to say the buzz around Emma is always much more than the other women players, even in the US. Here they say it is so she doesnt embarrass her sponsors.

Reading twitter lots of folks saying shes not serious about tennis , doesnt want to embarrass herself or her sponsors etc.

I think its fine - therell be lots of scrutiny on grass, she wont have played grass in a few years and she wants to prep. Hardcourts practice makes sense, lots of players use it to hone their ground strokes and attacking game ahead of grass. Itll be fine!
