Boys & Girls: J200 Aldershot, hard (Week 17)

As you would expect there is a large British contingent for this J200, though only one boy ranked high enough to be seeded. The British seeds are Ben Gusic Wan (1)  Gabia Paskauskas (3),  Hannah Read (4) Allegra Korpanec Davies (6) and Brooke Black (7).  Conor Brady's title in the Latvian J100 earns him a Special Exempt.

Full draws can be found at https://www.itftennis.com/en/tournament/j200-aldershot/gbr/2024/j-j200-gbr-01a-2024/draws-and-results/

Does Ceban not gain a WC here for his U16 GB championships title?

A WC for Aldershot was amongst the prize pack on offer to the winner.  However Mark wouldn't have needed a WC, as his ranking would have been high enough, and anyway he decided to continue in Tunisia, where he has had good success

Just as added info:

GB boys qualifiers: Lucas Ebert; Rafe Samuel; Archie Gray

GB boys wildcards: Louis Hull; Jesse Clarkson; Kai-Luca Ampaw; Lawrie Wilkin

Hary McDonagh got in as a LL too

There's a potential R2 clash between Ben Gusic Wan and Luke Hooper which could be interesting

GB Girls qualifiers: Eloise Newberry; Gabby Read; Izzy Burrow (who is a new name to me but beat the q4 and q5 seeds)

GB wildcards: Teddy Prisadnikova; Mia Wainwright; Lois Newberry; Sophya Devas

Izzy is a 2008 Somerset girl, trains at David Lloyd Bristol. Was a national level player in 10U and has always been a good level. Has really come into her own in the last 12-18 months and has started to do well at British Tours

Not the best morning....

Pride of place goes to Isabella Wong who was so impressive in the recent nationals (and should of/could of beaten Tegan)

Isabella beat the 8th seed, 6-4 in the third

But the rest doesn't look so good....

Tegan lost her match, to Allegra

As did Brooke, despite being 7th seed.

Flora and Lois and Teddy P. also lost, as did Edie (although in three sets, which is a decent effort from the 2009-er)

Georgiana Mititelu (another who showed a very good attitude at the nationals) got a win (over a qualifier)

And in all-GB matches, Gabia defeated Sophia Devyas, and Heidi Crncan defeated Izzy Burrow

Brooke now showing as having won her round 1 match. Erin Pearce and Hannah Read also won if ITF results are correct.

Tennis ticker showed Brooke winning, the ITF website was initially incorrect. A win for Elizabeth Evans over Gabby Read, Mia Wainwright and Hannah Rylatt are still playing Hannah took the first set 6-4. No boys matches today.

Ben is currently on court, a set down in his round 2 but the girls have completed 2 rounds, with only 1 seed failing to make it through (the one Isabella Wong beat yesterday)

Girls QF

(1) Joy De Zeeuw (NED) v (7) Brooke Black
(4) Hannah Read v Hannah Rylatt
(5) Britt Du Pree (NED) v (3) Gabia Paskauskas
(6) Allegra Korpanec Davies v (2) Ekaterina Perelygina (AUT)

Ben's match appears to have ended with Ben leading or winning 1-0 in the decider. I will assume that means they played a match tiebreak - which would maintain British interest in the boys event. The only seed to miss out was the 8th seed.

Boys QF

(1) Benjamin Gusic Wan v (5) Rafael Botran Neutze (GUA)
