Sophie finally lost, in a match that lasted nearly three hours.

I hope Sophie sticks at Tennis after how well she's played this week. If she's not in the England Netball squad anymore then I don't see what she has to lose by making the switch.

Nice come back from Mika to take the second set. Now 1-6 6-2. Despite the scoreline the actual games have largely been quite closely fought, with break points and games going to deuce on both players' serves.

Mika doesn't look overawed and is playing well.

Mika lost the first set 1-6

Which was a rather harsh score on the tennis I saw

But she's now won the second set 6-2

So all's fair - and here we go into a third

I suspect Netball is not a great source of revenue unless you have a central contract. Probably on a par with some semi pro footballers, who need a second job

I don't think tennis is generally a great source of revenu either no

Mika is really coming on well.

Into the semi-finals with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Hikaru Sato.

Excellent win from Mika !

1-6 6-2 6-2

Good strong hitting, and didn't panic after the first set, or hold back in the third

Great win for Mika - picking up some decent ranking points as well

So it did happen, Sato knocked out the top seed in one round and went out to the 15 year old wild card in the next. I watched the 2nd half of the match and Mika certainly deserved the win. Mika was hitting some powerful shots corner to corner forcing her opponent to run. She is also good at disguising her shots.

I like her style of play, an exciting prospect.

Indeed. She is up to live ranked 797 but rather than cuirent ranking it is much more the potential for the future that excites.

Hannah, Mimi and Mika could be great to follow in the coming years.

She would probably need to give up her job at Santander to play tennis full time.

 I think she's actually 874, not 974

But not for long anyway - she's on her way up
