Week 17 - ITF W35 Nottingham, Great Britain - Hard

Netball season is coming to an end and it's not an Olympic sport so I'd guess she'll see where she's at over the Summer

She was on the edge of the England netball team when younger but is not in the current prospective Vitality Roses international squad.  She plays in the Netball premier league - moved recently to Surrey Storm playing GA or WA. Surrey are mid table (5th out of 10).  My GF who plays netball tells me she has fast reactions and is maybe considered too fast at times.

They are only half way through the season - match 11 of 18 is on Saturday at 1800.  She has a tough match against Tamira Paszek next so it is unlikely there will be a scheduling issue.  I have no information on why she has come back to tennis but I wonder whether exclusion from the international development has made her wonder whether she still has a chance of making something of tennis which she was very good at as a youngster??

She certainly has got noticed fast, having played a few matches for Halton Tennis club then a G2 (RU) and a G1 (SF) national level tournaments only before this W35 tournament.  Really hope she continues to look at tennis and progresses to a level she can be proud of.

Sophie has some chances in the first set, it was very close, but she ended up losing it 4-6

She's now got two points for 6-5 up in the second, but has already had a set point

One set all grabbing the second set in the tie breaker, 7-3.  2 hrs 15 mins so far against WR 336.

Paszek is now having a medical timeout - looks like right foot??

It's cold and blowy out there
And rain forecast
Hope they don't get moved inside
Sophie has really been up there the whole match

Mika next plays Sato who just knocked out the top seed. It would be a bit of a come-down if Sato knocks out the top seed in one round and then goes out in the next round to a 15 year old WC.

Naiktha had a gimme volley to break and go 5-4 up in the 3rd

But she whacked it long, her opponent held, and then broke her

And Naiktha lost 4-6

Not good :(
