Word for Adam Peaty! Absolute legend even if it was a millimeter from gold!
Indeed. I thought he had it with 20 metres to go but it then all got so tight in the closing stages as similar to his first 2 races he didn't quite have the finish.
I just hope he is pretty content in himself with how he's come through the last couple of years. He seems to be.
He seemed happy enough and 18 months ago I don't think he even wanted to see a pool again so great to get any medal but also gutted I'm sure to miss out by .02 fine margins in elite sport.
Tom Pidc0ck. Wow. Leeding in the mountain biking. Got a puncture. Fell right back down the field. Made his way back and won the gold. Amazing performance.
Well done to the men's 4 x 200m freestyle relay team ( exactly the sane team as in 2021! ) on retaining their Olympic title.
Doing it during Dan & Andy's L16 MTB led to an entertaining diving back and forward on Radio 5 Live with the joy of success at both venues ( I listened back after watching the swimming ).
Really strong start - it is easy to think we are having a slow start but the schedule of the Olympics is such that we gather pace each year as events we are strong in start. We are actually ahead of last year at the same point and quite comfortably.
A target of 50-70 medals with 1/3rd approx golds was set as a target, I read, so 60 mid point and maybe 20 golds? The analytics guys have crunched the numbers and predict 63 medals and 17 golds.
I LOVE triathlon, my favourite sport outside of tennis to watch - Yee was amazing to win that gold medal, what a result!
And Beth Potter got bronze in the womens, well done to her, she was delighted ( I thought she could have won, but she was v pleased so that is great!)
With those two, Georgia T-B and Sam Dickinson, we really stand a decent chance in the mixed relay as well!
Yee was astonishing. With not that far to go the commentators were fretting about the third place runner overtaking him and then suddenly he overtakes the New Zealander and blooming well does it. So humble as well. Thrilled for him.
Those joyous women rowers as well.

Amazing morning! Loved those women rowers, what an achievement. One gold on the board already. Go GB rowing team. Yee , I still cant fathom how he pulled that back. What a performance.
Andy Murray/Dan Evans: I've pulled off Team GB's most incredible, come-from-behind-when-all-looked-lost win of the Olympics.
Tom Pid****: Hold my beer
Alex Yee: No, hold my beer
Women's quad sculls: Lads, hold our beers.
Just unbelievable drama
I think I was running every step of the way with Alex from the point at which he started to catch & then swept past Hayden Wilde at the end of the triathlon (no wonder he's "on a cloud above nine"! ) & rowing every stroke of the last 500m with the quad girls & felt exhausted afterwards! What a morning!
