Linda didn't seem to know what to do against Emma in the 1st set but once she won a game it was pretty even from then on. I was expecting the whole match to be like the 2nd set so it was just as well that Emma was able to bank that 1st set otherwise it could have gone either way.

Im not sure. We know Lindas best wins have come on hard courts. I think Emma would have upped her game , as she did in the last couple, of games to clinch the match. Now Iga, if she gets a set off her that will be good.
And at least someone has got Emma back on track with how she should play
Nothing to do with the injuries but she lost the plot - all those top-spin returns from too far back - why?
She's so much fun to watch when she plays like this! (As well as a lot more effective at winning points, of course!)
And I really admire her ability to put bad shots and questionable line calls behind her and play the next point as if it hasn't happened. (I can think of a few other British players who would have had a complete meltdown after that call she argued about for a bit with the umpire.)
Really looking forward to seeing how she does against Iga.
Flipping wonderful. Over the moon. Enjoyed that so much and so happy for her. (She needs to take L Lysine to help that cold sore though and use is as a preventive also - if it's allowed).
I think MD cut off was rankings as of this Monday and QD is rankings as of next Monday.
Qualifying cut-off is 28 days before, so I think a week Monday.
Lambda posted a link to the entry list - the cut-off dates are at the top of the page. Maindraw is 15/04 and qualifying is 29/04.
I assume that there will be no 29/04 rankings update, being mid Madrid, so that it will indeed be effectively next Monday 22/04 that determines the Q list.
Excellent from Emma! Looking forward to Iga match up with Emma having nothing to lose!
Be very interesting. Reminding myself by reading back, Emma played very well vs Iga at the same stage here in 2022, losing 4-6 4-6, and goes into the match probably looking at least as good as at any time since then.

Yeah I've got a good feeling! She is improving drastically with every match...
Certainly a loaded QF featuring the top 4 ranked players in the world - Swiatek, Sabalenka, Gauff, and Rybakina.
Rybakina has won and Sabalenka has won her first set. To come is Swiatek vs Radacanu ( TNNS app currently showing a 4 pm BST start time ) and Gauff vs Kostyuk.
