19 year old Noskova def WR10 Ostapenko 3 & 1 in R1 so this looks like a tough match for Emma, possibly even harder than if she played Ostapenko. Noskova had a JCH=5.

She was also Junior Champion at Roland Garros in 2021, although since then she has played a lot more hard court tournaments.
R2: RADUCANU, Emma (GBR) 302 (CH=10 2022) v NOSKOVA, Linda (CZE) 31 (CH=28 2024) They met in the French Open last year with Emma winning in three.
A decent win for Raducanu. Kerber hits a tricky ball and some great angles but still far from her best. But three solid wins to start her clay court season.
Great result from Emma! It was fun to watch and pretty hard fought, with a lot of deuce games. My impression was that Kerber tended to win the longer points, when she had time to work Emma out of position, but she often didn't get a chance to do that because Emma was putting so much pressure on her that she was making a lot of "unforced" errors fairly early in points. (Kerber served a fair few double faults because Emma was returning well and stepping up aggressively on second serves.) And Emma had some lovely blistering winners and at least one absolutely gorgeous drop shot.
Yes, completely agree about aggressive service returns causing the double faults - classic but very effective - as long as you can actually pull off the aggressive service returns , otherwise its just bluff
But Emma can:)
Looking forward to the match today
Very much like Noskova
Especially as all the media focus has been on the Fruity sisters, in a soap opera style competition with the Russian Andy sisters
And players like Linda are relatively quietly doing their thing - and very effectively too
