Tennis Integrity Agency checks things with the bookmakers?

Perhaps: M Mayot had a couple of injury breaks in the set that he won (and, amusingly got a phone call at the start of that set too, but he didn't answer it), but the retirement just came out of the blue. Probably too obvious to be planned, but stranger things have happened.

He was struggling with his groin in second set. Probably realised he would not get through another set

Never like to see a win by retirement, but given Cam's struggles to close out matches (or even sets) atm, I'll take this one.

Mayot will obviously be very much focused on Roland Garros

He'll be getting a wildcard (if he needs it)

I've no idea but I could imagine that after two hard sets, if he had a twinge, he'd think it better just to quit

I looked at the draw and thought, maybe, this was one Dan could win. But I woke up this morning and , to be honest, Ive just lost hope re Dan now. So I hadnt even checked in on the result.

Is it age? Has he lost his power? Or his legs? Or is it consistency, stamina etc?

Anyone any idea what is going on with Evo, please let us know!

Nakashima went on to defeat Rublev the no 2 sed in the next round so must be playing better than expected.

Maybe, although Rublev has been on a run of form equally as depressing as Evo's! Maybe Nakashima got lucky with the draw!

Cam Norrie & Dan Evans should be in the singles main draw.

Neal and Dodig beat Jamie and Venus in 2 tight sets; Joe and Rajeev lost their opener in two close sets.

Cam had several match points in that second set.

L16:  (WC) Roberto Bautista (ESP) WR 84 (CH = 9 in November 2019) vs (12) Cameron Norrie WR 31

A more comfortable encounter for Cam today:

L16:  (12) Cameron Norrie WR 31 defeated (WC) Roberto Bautista (ESP) WR 84 by 4 & 3  smile

Etcheverry (13) or Nakashima in the QF.  They're currently battling it out on another court, with Nakashima a set up.

RBA isnt what he was but hes a solid clay counter , so thats a decent win for Cam.

nakashima is surprising this week, maybe make us all feel a little better about Evos early loss to him.

RBA may not be the force he once was, but really pleased to see Cam get a solid win there, with no end-of-set wobbles!
