I find it a bit odd that the likes of Emily, Eden, Beth etc seem to now only be playing these high-level tournaments. I get that W35s/W50s are probably not big earners, and that doubles is important to them, but they have loads of low singles scores that would be displaced by runs to QFs/SFs at lower-level events - and they're capable of doing that. You'd think a calendar mixing weeks at this level for doubles with weeks at the appropriate singles level would be totally manageable - especially for Emily who is close to her singles CH and could take it out with some good runs.
Good point jb. Emily's doubles this week has gained her 29 points, which will still be a non-counter. And the prize money isn't great either. As for the singles, she only gets three points for this week and even one win at W35 is better than that. The girls are obviously good enough at doubles to maintain their rankings, but all seem to struggle to move up further in singles.
I suppose regarding w75/w100 tournaments, I suppose players will always enter hoping to qualify and make the final and win and get plenty of ranking points even if that seems realistic.
