I'm confused - are Patten+ and Cash+ in or not? And why not if they were 2nd and 3rd alts?
darts showing them as 1st and 2nd alts now onsite
Other ones around them got wildcards - the 1st alts (so they moved from 2 and 3 to 1 and 2) and the 4th alts

Odd - wonder if there was a particular reason to choose Mahut and Escobar. The greek brothers I can understand (unfortunately) and have received several wildcards over the last year or so.
Talking of Henry and Harri, tweets going around yesterday saying they won't be getting any grass wildcards and Harriet can't get any coaching from Cayer due to the DC tie Vs Finland.

Have they got a ranking drop coming? They just about meet the eligibility criteria for grass WCs now, which for them is Top 75 British doubles players on ATP ranking with a regular foreign partner with a combined doubles ranking of ATP 100 or better

Harri is currently 38th and Henry 56th. Harri drops points in next few weeks which drop him to 45th and a CR of 101.
but that does seem very harsh as others might drop and he might defend those points he is dropping.
So from what I can tell the last two pairs to get in on singles rankings have combined singles rankings of 163(Cachin/Kotov) and 414(Hassan/Shelbayh). Really brining the exciting well known singles players to the draw.

Five of the six players awarded wild cards are doubles specialists. Doubles specialists were also accepted as on-site entries as there weren't enough singles players wanting to play.
The majority of singles players have chosen to play one of two ATP Challenger 175 events this week. And it doesn't make sense that they would prioritise doubles over those events.
The irony is that there are more singles players in the doubles advance entry list for Rome.
In the meantime Heliovaara/Patten and Cash/Galloway have had to commit to ATP Challenger events, so if anyone pulls out of Madrid doubles, lord knows who the alternates will be.
