To follow up on the 'dodgy' rankings used, five qualifiers beat direct main draw entrants today
Two other qualifiers won, against wildcards
So 7 out of 8 matches were won by qualifers
Allegra K Davies should get a little shout-out as the only MD player to actually win !

when was this you are taking about, decade wise - I cant remember them going to Nottingham at all or being on Sky!

They went to Nottingham in 1991 after the centre was opened earlier that year for the Federation Cup. Only on Sky that first year. Tim Henman won in 1992. Were sponsored by Midland Bank and I think held there for a decade or so.

Gosh I mustnt have paid attention! I remember the senior nationals later in the 90s at Telford, with Henman and Rusedksi going at it, and they were interesting for a few years. Id often thought they would be nice to resurrect but tennis has moved on.

I searched for a roll of honour of the juniors , is there one going back that far as I struggled to find anything !

I searched for a roll of honour of the juniors , is there one going back that far as I struggled to find anything !

I posted a list a couple of years ago on here of the ones on the roll of honour on display on the court fence at Surbiton, the ones I saw when I was there for the nationals probably 3 years ago. I'll try and find it on here but don't think I've got the photos any longer. But it didn't go back beyond 10 years or so.

Edit: I've had a quick search and can't find those lists, I thought it was at nationals in 2021 I saw it but it isn't on that thread. May keep looking if time.

The girls have kicked off inside

Good that they didn't hang around waiting, the weather forecast was presumably pretty convincing

Mimi is the first one through, 6-1 6-1, over Allegra

Very clean hitting and the score was fair

Mika took a lot of time to win her first set 6-4

Mia was playing well, pushing Mika to make mistakes, and getting some nice balls into place that caught Mika by surprise

I watched some of Mimis match, thought she was was trying a few things out TBH. Both 16 years olds, but did show difference in class. Some tougher competition for Mimi hopefully moving through the draw. Her success in Monastir seems to indicate she is transitioning well to seniors.
