Phew! What a great win. Had a bit of a wobble serving for the match at 5-0 second set and threw in a couple of double faults which cost her the game. Riera then upped her level for a couple of games but Fran just hung on in there and got the win. I do love watching her play.

Fran plays Podoroska in the final. Fran has lost to her three times before, so time to change the record.

In doubles, Fran and Podoroska gave a WO to Bondar and Zidansek who then received another WO in the final to win the doubles competition.

Presumably as both in the singles final they mutually agreed this as opposed to being injured?

Good luck to this girl today. After seeing what happened in Australia when she had to retire it makes me so happy to see her bounce back like this.

Listed as a gastrointestinal illness for Fran.

Hopefully Fran will be OK and it was at worst just a precautionary doubles withdrawal. Was due to be a bit of a hang around for Fran with her playing her singles SF in the afternoon then Nadia's SF and the doubles SF scheduled for the night.

The singles final is scheduled for 6 pm local, 1 am tomorrow BST.
