Good to see 4 of our girls in the main drawer of a W75 in France.

Tough draw for beth though.

better to be in the main drawer than in the bottom drawer - easier to get to.

Top drawer joke for a Monday John

 Draw Drawer

 A one all draw!biggrin

I thought there were no draws in this Sport yet they just keep coming. smile

Can I pencil in four wins for that drawing?

R1:- Emily Appleton (GBR) WR407 [Q] def Justina Mikulskyte (LTU) WR225 2-6 7-6(6) 6-1

Quite a turn around from Emily - who looked to be struggling with her serve for a set and a half.

Lily faced a MP at 5-2 down in the 2nd set so did very well to turn things around!

real struggle for Marni to close that out - she was 5-2 up, wasn't she? And then got pegged back and ended up in a TB
very happy she came through

It was 5-3 40-15* - and then three further match points which she couldn't take.

Lily won and plays the 3rd seed next. Rodionova is a bit unusual in being 34 years of age and having reached her career high this year.

People might also remember all the hoo-hah there was with Rodinova at the start of the year as she was the highest ranked Aussie player (if I remember rightly), really close to making the MD as of right, but wasn't given a wildcard

She was very vocal that it was because her face didn't fit, too old, she was being discriminated against for having trodden on a few toes etc

And then she lost in R1 of qualis - which some said vindicated the Aussie federation and others said was because she didn't feel she had any support at her home GS
