Great result from Katy. really think if she could stay fit she could get towards the top 200 area.
Indeed. For now, with her great follow-up R1 win, Katy is live ranked 322 and into the GB top 10, ahead of Katie Swan. A R2 win against her fellow qualifier would take her up another few places to her highest ranking since 2019. Her CH 212 dates back to 2018.
Lily took the second set 6-4 so it is all square going into the final set
Which I guess reflects their rankings. Interesting that there seems to be a strong Japanese presence in deepest Czechia this week (albeit I have only seen these few names from this thread, maybe the entry is clustered around Lily's part of the draw!)
Including Eva Lys (GER), the player who's just posted that she was diagnosed with Spondylarthristis, a form of autimmune disease, a couple of years ago, and is having some trouble managing it
Talking of Lulu Sun, she's apparently switching nationality from Switzerland to New Zealand (her place of birth). Playing Billie Jean King Cup for NZ and longer term possibly thr Olympics.

Or shorter term. If Erin Routliffe stays Top 10 in doubles, she'll be able to pick a partner of her choosing so Sun could be going to the Games.

I'm 100% in favour of nationality hopping/shopping for tennis players
It's part of the professional package you have to think about
Pros and cons
No one is doing anything dodgy
Just like normal passports
Evaluate what's on offer and make the decision that fits your pathway the best
Good luck to Lulu
