Wickmayer is playing in Indian Wells qualifying which starts tomorrow. Maybe there has some been some confusion because normally IW starts on Monday and I am not sure Yanina would have wanted to pull out like this for the sake of Mihalikova who is a doubles specialist. Quite why IW needs to have qualifying over 3 days I am not sure.
Wickmayer is on the OOP in IW on Sunday, but Olivia isnt. A few first round matches seem to be delayed until Monday, including Harriet.
Yes, 16 out of 24 matches are scheduled for Sunday, including Wickmayer. I suppose it is better to withdraw from a SF than from a final from the point of the organisers, but you'd think it was negotiable with IW.
Austin have dubbed Oliva and Oliva, "O2" and "Team Oxygen".
The doubles final will feature two teams that joined forces specifically for the ATX Open. Though Olivia Gadecki and Olivia Nicholls live five minutes apart in London, it took a transatlantic trip to bring the two together as a tennis duo. So far, so good. For Gadecki, today represents the first Hologic WTA final of her career, while Nicholls played and won her first final in Lyon two seasons ago.
The two Olivias (or "O2" as we have dubbed them in Austin) will have to beat Katarzyna Kawa and Bibiane Schoofs to make the rare 'first title on a first outing' boast. Team Oxygen (see what we did there?) breezed into the final via a walkover, whereas the team of Kawa and Schoofs had to battle from a set down to upset our No. 1 seeds in a match tiebreak for the chance to hoist the trophy.

Officially Mihalikova withdrew due to a "right harm" [sic] injury.

The money's a lot better in IW - might also be a factor
QR1 losers get $7,800 whilst the doubles winners at Austin get to share only $12,280, and losing semi-finalists only $4,140
