... well as long as the LTA / Wimbledon don't get awkward and say Marcus can have a WC just if he plays with a fellow Brit.

I hate when they do that; leave them with their selected partners, IMO. Realise if it is a one off that might be debatable, but if they have someone they have been playing regularly with, let them play!

Indeed. I recall the hoops Lloyd & Harri had to go through to get a WC for Queen's in 2022. A then regular partnership on the rise, who went on to reach the final.

Yes, I think an ATP tournament in Finland had to offer a reciprocal WC to a Brit.

I think it was 2021 and Jack Draper got a wildcard into Helsinki event?

It happened in both 2021 and 2022. I think in 2022 Jay ended up getting in direct at the last minute so ended up not needing the wild card.

In 2021 Harri played with Alastair Gray after Lloyd pulled out at at the last moment.

QF:  (1) Arthur Rinderknech (FRA) WR 90 defeated Billy Harris WR 185 by 4-6 7-5 6-4  hmm

Sadly, it seems that Pouille didn't soften up Rinderknech quite enough yesterday evening.  cry

Thanks wolf.

It definitely was 2022 that I was thinking of re the Queen's WC for Lloyd & Harri where the issue was negotiating a WC for a Brit in Finland.

I didn't recall 2021. But yes, I do see that Harri got a 2021 Queen's WC with Ali G and that Jack got a Helsinki Challenger WC in the November.

Billy really keeps himself busy too. I see that this will represent his 29th positive ranking score in the last 12 months. Next Brit is Aidan with 22.

The best sort of schedule is very particular to each player but certainly it's not been doing Billy any harm.

What does 29th positive ranking score mean, out of interest ie points scoring? Or where he has progressed in the rankings since the previous week? Sorry!

I meant a week where he scored at least 1 ranking point so must have won at least 1 match. Clearly though only counts his best 19 scores.

I was referring to that because I didn't have comparative figures for the number of tournaments actually played in. But I would think Billy will probably be over 40 in the last 12 months.

According to Tennis Abstract Billy is 62-36 for the last 52 weeks (including today's result). He's 7-7 for 2024 so far. So I think that is 36 tournaments as I don't believe he actually wonone.

Thanks TA, good use of TA!

98 is some serious tennis playing! And it looks like 35 events in that time.

Shame Billy couldn't edge that, but it looks like he made a good close battle of it.

Win the first set on a TB saving a SP against serve and stealing the point SP up.

Good standard.
